Minister of Soulful Living Training and Certification Program
Introduction
The time has come for CSL to expand its offerings to those who are looking for expanded or increased soulfulness in their lives. While we at CSL have trained and certified many persons as leaders in soulful facilitation, soulful training and soulful mentoring, we are now inspired to offer another training and certification: for those who desire to become ministers of soulful living.
Purpose
As you know, CSL’s stated purpose is “to offer inspirational, transformational and educational services” to persons who are looking for a more enhanced soulful and grace-filled life. Thus far, we have accomplished this goal through our own programs led mostly by Bill Bauman, and more recently through supporting the offerings and services of our certified facilitators and CSL trainers/mentors.
Our purpose in training and certifying persons as ministers of soulful living is twofold:
- to provide soulfully-oriented people more opportunity to have their spiritual needs attended to by deeply soulful, inspired and trained/certified ministers; and
- to allow for a soulful style of dedicated service and mission on the part of those who feel “called” to a specifically ministerial function.
Benefits of certification
The Minister of Soulful Living will be allowed to serve the soulful needs of persons who are drawn to him/her as a minister. Specifically, the minister is certified to perform the following spiritual/soulful functions:
- wedding ceremonies and other blessings of marriages
- birthing ceremonies and rituals that welcome new souls into the world
- pastoral care and ministering to the spiritual needs of the sick and dying, in hospitals, nursing homes and other appropriate settings
- funeral and memorial services
- spiritual counseling in matters of the soul
- meditation groups, prayer meetings and retreat/reflection gatherings
- spiritual celebration ceremonies, such as:
- regular spiritual services, such as Sunday services
- celebration of special events and holidays
- special rites of passage (e.g., from childhood to adolescence, from adolescence to womanhood or manhood)
- teaching of content related to soulful living, to individuals or groups
- preaching sermons or homilies, and giving inspirational messages, related to soulfulness
- other functions that a spiritual minister would perform, even if not mentioned here, if those functions are soulful, legal, ethical and requested by the recipient
Eligibility
Training for this certification is available to anyone who has completed any three CSL Mentoring or Immersion Programs.
Training
Training for certification as a CSL minister of soulful living will take place over a period of one four-day-long weekend (Friday to Monday). It will be provided by Bill Bauman, be masterfully co-facilitated by our own gifted Rev. Debbi Brown, and will focus specifically on a ministerial style of caring for people’s spiritual needs (as described in “Benefits of Certification” above).
When
Friday through Monday
from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day:
2009 Group: October 16-17-18-19, 2009
Where
The training will be held at a conference facility in St. George, Utah. The specific conference facility will be chosen based on the size of the group. If the group is small (5-10 persons), it will be held in the home of Donna and Bill Bauman.
Fee
The fee for the training is $1,000.00, payable to the Center for Soulful Living (by check or credit card). Each participant is also responsible for travel to and from St. George, as well as lodging and meals while there.
Application deadline
If you feel moved to apply, please call or email Elinor. Send the registration form, along with a $250.00 deposit, to CSL by August 15th. Download flyer and registration form (PDF)
Concluding note
We have felt strongly inspired to make this ministerial aspect an intimate and integral part of CSL, rather than forming a separate legal entity like a church (or, officially, “religious organization”). In short, we don’t feel moved to be seen and experienced as a religion or church, but rather a spiritual presence.
That said, our attorney advises us that CSL and its certified ministers can in fact perform “religious” (as well as “spiritual”) functions. Thus, you as a CSL-certified minister will meet the requirements of the laws of all states to perform weddings and other ministerial functions. In summary, you will be legally allowed to perform all of the functions and services that a religious minister (one licensed or ordained by a legally recognized church) does.
