My Purpose

Life beckons me to
play hide-and-seek with raindrops
on a summer’s eve,
waiting for the rainbow that
leads up to the sky. 

Joy is mine as I
dodge waves along the seashore,
the salt-laden air
embracing all my senses
while the Moon looks on.

Even in the midst
of a seemingly dull day
I skip, slip, and slide
down the street, or sway gently
to a silent tune.      

In my mind’s eye, I
tango in Argentina,
waltz in Vienna,
and boogey down in Motown, 
vibrant and alive. 

Why do I exist?
My sole reason for being
is to dance with God.
